Minke Whale and Standup-Paddler

This is quite a heartwarming story. A Southern California surfer was on a 40-mile standup-paddle ride, which she hoped would inspire her friend who has been battling breast cancer and hopefully raise a little money for two cancer charities. At some point in her 9-hour journey, a 30-foot Minke whale decided to swim alongside her 14-foot board. The whale, which are not common in waters around Southern California, stayed with the paddler for 2 hours. The paddler was also escorted by a boat, which carried the cancer patient that inspired this trip.

  • This is a great story. Very inspiring post. Being a woman is the main risk for breast cancer. While men also
get the disease, it is about 100 times more common in women than in men. I think these raise helps a lot of breast cancer patients.
