Tip of the Day 12/13/2010

0

Salt creep can build up on your aquarium’s light bulbs and their reflectors over time. Not only will this salt decrease the efficiency of the lamps and reflectors, but they can also cause irreparable damage. Bulbs can crack and reflectors will rust, permanently causing your lighting system to put out less light than it is capable of. When performing routine maintenance on your aquarium equipment, wipe down bulbs and reflectors with a damp rag. Obviously, you would want the light fixture to be cool before wiping them to avoid burning yourself or breaking the bulbs.
