Having a problem with excess algae growth in your frag tank? The answer might be the white eggcrate you are using to hold frags. Many hobbyists have indicated that white eggcrate tends to grow algae very well. Some argue that because the eggcrate is a new surface, unsightly algae will quickly take hold, only to later give way to higher forms of algae. Others argue that the white eggcrate actually leaches out phosphates and other materials, promoting algae growth. They also suggest using black eggcrate, as it is made of a different material.
