Tip of the Day – 2/2/2011

With the cold temperatures abounding, many hobbyists may experience freeze related power outages. Trees ice up, become overburdened by the extra wait of ice and snow, and wreak havoc on power lines. If this happens, the power could be out for hours, or even days. With no heat or power, your aquarium can quickly go downhill. To limp through the power outage, use a generator and hook up return pumps and heaters. The heaters are obviously a must have during these months. If you don’t have a generator, most car batteries will work as a decent substitute, but be sure to use an inverter.
