Even though they have been used for decades, plastic bags aren’t the only way to transport fish, corals, and invertebrates. The bags are cheap and effective, but the corners can crumple, trapping any fish or breaking coral tips. Additionally, they can rip or puncture, causing water to leak out. This of course jeopardizes the life of whatever is in the bag. A great alternative to plastic bags is plastic cups or jars that use lids. They are a little more expensive than plastic bags, but they do not crumple up or leak. On top of that, the cups resist temperature changes better.
