Picture of the Week – 5/30 – 6/5

Pictured in this installment of the AquaNerd Picture of the Week is a closeup of a Sunset Montipora frag. I had the camera out this weekend and obviously couldn’t help shooting a few of the corals that reside in my frag tank. This particular frag was one that I picked up from ReefKoi Corals at the DFW NextWave event earlier this year. The sunset monti isn’t anything rare, exotic, and highly sought after like it used to be, which makes them so much more inexpensive. I’m a fan of most Montipora species, with some of the old schoolers such as the one pictured above being my favorites. Their sharply contrasting polyps and base really pop under actinic lighting.
