Clown Hosting in a Tridacna clam
We are still in recuperation mode from the long MACNA weekend, but for this week’s AquaNerd Picture of the Week we though it would only be fitting that it came from the event. We didn’t focus too much on livestock during the conference since the logistics of fish and coral transport is never fun, but we did hover around the ORA booth long enough to capture this Tridacna derasa clam playing host to a Black Saddleback clownfish (Amphiprion polymnus). The clown wouldn’t stay in the clam for long, but would occasionally swim by and just lay in it lazily. This behavior isn’t completely abnormal however, as clowns have been known to take up residence in just about anything.
