Have a bare bottom display aquarium but really want to keep a wrasse that is partial to sand? You don’t have to fill the entire aquarium with sand, but what you can do is fill a small Tupperware container with sand and let it serve as a nighttime hiding spot for your wrasse. This design keeps the sand in one place, but also provides a familiar home to burrowing fish. It is very doubtful that you’ll see any biological filtration benefits from using sand in this fashion, as there is simply just not enough to make an impact, but your fish will sure love it.
