There’s nothing wrong with starting your reef aquarium with aquacultured coral frags, and as a matter of fact it’s quite admirable. However, cutting coral frags from corals that are still frags themselves in order to make a little cash off of the hobby should be avoided. Not only does the cutting stress out the small coral, but it also leaves your aquarium full of nothing but coral nubs. Let the corals grow to a reasonable size before fragging them, as the reef aquarium looks far better with mature coral colonies.
