Tip of the Day – 3/29/2012

If you are an aquarium hobbyist that lives near the ocean, try to get your local aquarium involved in a beach cleanup project. We, as hobbyists, take from the oceans without giving back. By cleaning up nearby beaches, not only do you give something back to the ocean that we rely on so heavily, but you are also improving the community. On top of that, the cleanup project can be a great way to get outdoors and meet folks from the local aquarium club. Organizing a single day event for beach cleanup is simple. Just ask your friends and spread the word on the message boards, and perhaps get some refreshments gathered up to better entice volunteers. If the club gets on board with the event, perhaps they can provide t-shirts and other items to incentivize the process.
