Tip of the Day – 4/20/2012

Want to replace light bulbs in your aquarium but hate turning back the daily photoperiod? Well, you have a couple of other options available. If you run T5HO, then you can simply change one bulb out every few weeks until all of the old ones have been swapped out for new ones. If you run a metal halide setup, you don’t have that same luxury, but you still have options. After replacing a bulb, layer a few sheets of mesh material over the aquarium. As the weeks go by, remove the mesh one layer at a time. Eventually the mesh will be all gone and you won’t risk burning your corals.
