Return pumps are crucial for moving water from our sumps and other filtration systems back to the aquarium, but they can also be elemental in targeting dead spots and low flow areas within the display. With the help of Loc-Line fittings and other creative plumbing work, the water from the return pump can be aimed at areas where detritus and cyanobacteria tend to settle, allowing the gunk to be suspended back into the water column. Getting this stuff back into the water column allows the filter to remove it more effectively, thereby reducing nutrients and other undesirable dissolved organics.
