Many different snail species may be great at eating algae and detritus, but that doesn’t automatically make them ideal for aquarium life. Some snails are better adapted to cooler waters, while others don’t have good natural defenses against other invertebrates like hermit crabs. Other times, the snails require too much food, usuallymitre than an aquarium can produce to sustain just a few individuals. Because of this, adding just a few tropical snails is ideal.
