Tip of the Day – 6/5/2012

When working over your aquarium, there are several things to keep in mind so that you don’t get hurt. For starters, be sure to turn the lights off, or at least raise them as high as possible. The lights will obviously burn at high temperatures, assuming you are running something other than LEDs of course, and contact with them can cause significant skin burns. Even if you don’t touch the bulbs directly, prolonged exposure can lead to a sunburn-like reaction. Other than lights, hobbyists also need to keep in mind their body position. If you’re bent over and stay in an awkward position for an extended period, you could injure your back or some other sensitive parts of the body.
