Tip of the Day – 10/1/2012

When arriving home after being away for an extended period, one of the first things you’ll want to do is obviously check your aquarium for anything that went wrong while you were away. It seems like all of the aquarium disasters happen while hobbyists are on vacation or business trips, so those first few steps into the aquarium room are always the most cautious. Regardless if anything bad happened to the aquarium or not while you were away, the first think you’ll want to do upon your return is get right back into the swing of aquarium maintenance. This might mean prepping for a water change or simply feeding the fish, topping off the water, or running an algae magnet across the tank. During that minimal maintenance, you can look for other issues in the aquarium.
