Anemones can be quite nomadic, especially when first introduced to a new environment. They will often crawl all over the aquarium looking for just the right spot or hiding behind the rock structure, though the process is extremely slow. The wandering anemones can take to the glass, crawl over or near delicate corals, or even find their way into the spinning propellers of water pumps. These scenarios can lead to corals being stung or the anemones getting the blender treatment by the water pump. The latter is far more devastating to the aquarium overall, as bits of dead anemone a shot all over the tank. The water usually gets cloudy and if the problem isn’t cleaned up, the entire tank could crash.
