If you like to use large storage tanks to hold lots of freshwater, or to even mix your saltwater, it’s a good idea to clean them out every few months. Despite being sealed, many of these containers can collect various residues and unwelcome guests (e.g. dead bugs) that can contaminate any new water you put into the container. To clean these tanks, a healthy amount of vinegar or bleach can be used, provided they are diluted into a large amount of water of course. And if you decide to clean the storage tank with either of these chemicals, the tank will need to be rinsed a few times prior to use just to make sure any leftover chemicals are gone as well.
