With MACNA 2013 quickly approaching, the Marine Aquarium Societies of North America have announced their annual 2013 – 2014 MASNA Student Scholarships, and this year they’re upping the ante in a big way. Just like last year, MASNA will be giving out two separate scholarships, one for an undergraduate and one for a graduate student. Unlike the previous years, however, the two scholarships will be a whopping $4000 each, up from from $2500 each last year.

To be eligible, the desired candidate must be a current or entering undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university with a declared major in one of the marine sciences. Additionally, the student should be active in the marine aquarium hobby and have a GPA above 2.5 on the 4.0 scale. The scholarships will be limited to North American students studying anywhere in the world, as well as foreign-born students attending North American institutions. The recipients of the scholarships will be determined by their academic history and contributions/commitment to the marine aquarium hobby. Both winners will be announced at the 2013 Marine Aquarium Conference of North America in Florida later this year.

This year’s scholarships are being sponsored by EcoTech Marine and LiveAquaria, who are both familiar faces to the MASNA scholarship program, as well as newcomer Seachem.
