DFWMAS NextWave Coral Farmers Market

Every year, my reef keeping buddies and I pile into a car and make the quick trip north to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to enjoy the always pleasent Next Wave event held by the DFW Marine Aquarium Society. Typically, the event is held in the first quarter of the year, but 2014’s show looks to deviate from the past and will be hosted in May (more show details below). Along with that, the event has gotten a fresh new website that’s been stuffed full of information about vendors, guest speakers, and other pertinent information.

Next Wave 2014 will be take place on May 3rd at the Sheraton Hotel by DFW Airport in Irving. Ticket prices are currently set at $20, with raffle tickets and other goodies also available to purchase online or in person. The guest speaker list, which has typically been three or more sperakers in the past, currently includes Jake Adams, of Reef Builders, and Marc Levenson, who is always involved in DFW events (he does live there after all). We’re not sure if one more guest speaker will be added to that list, but there’s almost a year until the show happens, so who knows.

In addition to guest speakers and raffle items, Next Wave 2014 will have more than 40 vendor booths for guests to visit. This is more than what has been available in previous years, and event promoters hope that the huge number will attract far more people from outside of the direct area. We know a lot of folks all throughout the state attend the show, as well as neighboring states, and the large number of vendors should only help bolster those numbers.

As usual, we’ll continue to update the details for Next Wave as they become available. We’re planning to be at the show, covering it from start to finish. Last year, we had an absolute blast, so to say we’re excited is just making an understatement.
