Odd-shaped aquariums like bow fronts, half circles, and the recently popular drop off setups are great to look at and all, but they can be time bombs waiting to go off. Because of their unique shapes, these tanks have unique stress points that cause them to leak far more regularly than the standard rectangular aquariums. They can work well for a long time and some may never spring a leak whatsoever, but the slightest issue with the stand (not being level for example) can cause those stress points to fail rather easily. This is why having a well-built stand is a key for long term success in this hobby, an often overlooked fact when diving into aquarium keeping.
