During these grueling winter months, you may need something a little more potent than an in-tank heater to keep your tank’s water temperatures from dipping too low. You could turn up the heater in your home to keep things stabilized, but if you don’t want to run up the electric bill, you could try a small space heater. These little heaters can warm up a small space quickly, and they do great in a pinch on those really cold nights where you might need a few extra BTUs keeping the place nice and toasty. Of course, they aren’t without their drawbacks. Besides being a potential fire hazard, many of them don’t auto-regulate their temperatures, so it could be quite easy for them to overheat a specific area and cause cause water temps to climb too high.
