The slightest things can throw off the delicate balance of parameters in our reef aquariums. Changing salt brands, trying different additives, or simply altering the frequency or amount things are dosed can drastically alter how our aquariums respond. Testing parameters is obviously highly recommended, but also monitor how your livestock reacts. Check coral polyp extension and fish behavior for any stress, and revert back to your previous methods if you notice any problems. Also be sure to make changes one at a time. This will be very important if anything bad happens during this alteration of procedure, as it will be easier to pinpoint the issue and correct it.
