Tip of the Day – 3/8/2011

Dipping your corals is always suggested, but in doing so you also run the risk of killing any beneficial invertebrates that are hiding out on the coral. I’m not suggesting to avoid dipping corals, instead, prior to or during the process, be sure to pick off any beneficial hitch hikers you come across. These include copepods/amphipods, micro brittle stars, Stomatella snails, and many more. What I have found is many invertebrates will crawl off the corals during the acclimation process.
