Most corals and photosynthetic invertebrates usually don’t require spot feeding, provided they are in an environment with ample lighting. However, it’s still a good idea to feed some form of plankton-based food to these creatures. Photosynthesis provides a great deal of nutrition for reef invertebrates, but it doesn’t fulfill their needs completely. By providing a diversity of filter foods, you ensure the animals are getting what they need to thrive. Make sure to feed foods of a variety of sizes, as different animals have very specific food requirements.
