Sometimes, different pieces of our aquarium equipment will rust. Whether a magnet cracks or a screw starts to corrode, most of us experience this problem in one way or another and it must be dealt with immediately. The rust will constantly degrade the metal and cause it to get into the water. You may not see any immediate issues, but over the long run the heavy metals can cause problems with corals and invertebrates, and any excess iron could cause unwanted algae growth.
