When installing equipment in your aquarium, make sure to incorporate a drip loop in the item’s power cord. As water splashes, it will likely get on the power cord and travel down to the lowest point. If the plug is located at the lowest point, the water will get into the power strip and cause it to short out or, at the very least, salt will accumulte in the sockets. By moving the power strip upward and creating a small dip or loop in the power cable, the water will accumulate on the cord and drip into the bottom of the stand instead of the power strip.
