Tip of the Day – 6/26/2012

Going away on a summer trip and have a neighbor, friend, or relative coming over to take care of your aquarium while you’re gone? If so, then it’s wise to leave a very detailed list of instructions on what to do and what not to do. Tell them how much food to feed, and when. Prepare some top off water that they can dump into your sump when the water level gets too low. And finally, tell them not to do certain things that requires thorough aquarium knowledge in order to perform, such as additive dosing. These more difficult tasks can wait until your return, and it’s best to just keep it simple for your tank sitter. Otherwise, you might return home to a disaster.
