Tip of the Day – 5/21/2014

If you want to clean the outside of your acrylic aquarium, be sure to avoid products like Windex or similar household cleaners. Windex contains ammonia, which is not only harsh on the acrylic but can also wreak havoc on a marine aquarium. As an alternative, we recommend just using a wet washcloth, preferrably one of those microfiber cloths that won’t scratch up the aquarium. After running a wet rag over the tank, just use a dry one to remove any droplets or leftover residues, again being careful not to scratch the tank.
