If you’ve got high intensity lighting over your reef aquarium and fear that maybe the corals are getting too much light, you can easily remedy the situation via a number of ways. For one, you can reduce the amount of time the lights are on. This limits the length of the exposure to the high intensity light, and is a great way to acclimate corals. Another possibility is to raise the lights higher off the water’s surface. This will reduce the lighting’s water penetrating power, decreasing the amount of energy that hits your corals. Both of these options are free and require minimal effort to implement, not to mention they may save some money on the electric bill.
