Aquarium keepers, in general, rely heavily on timers to keep their lights and other pieces of equipment operating automatically throughout the day. Unfortunately, these normally useful devices don’t always work as planned. They may gradually lose minutes throughout the day, and sometimes they just don’t turn on or off like they’re supposed to. The analog versions of the timers are the worst, as their functionality is hit or miss, and it goes without saying that you get what you pay for. If you’re looking for a quality timer to control your lights, we recommend a well known aquarium controller, as their digital timers seems to be the most reliable. Of course, programming these timers is a who other story altogether, as is the price. So find what suits your situation best, just be prepared to fiddle with the timers more often if you go with the cheap lamp timers.
