When stocking your aquarium, don’t go off how large the fish are when they are purchased, but how big they will potentially grow over their lifetime. Fish are very attractive at a young age, and with their deceptively small size, it’s easy to stock a tank full of livestock and not think anything of it. As the fish mature, however, not only do they lose some of that attractive juvenile coloration, but they also start to get a bit more aggressive as they start to outgrow their captive environment. Eventually, the larger and more aggressive fish will start to pick on the more docile fish, usually leading to some loss of life.
