Not all public aquariums are in the best shape, and they may not always have the most up-to-date information. But there’s still value in them in the form of education and entertainment. Your kids could probably stare at your aquarium for hours, but after a while it becomes just another piece of furniture to them. Sure, their interest might be piqued every once in a while, but nothing gets them more interested in the hobby than a trip to the local public aquarium. So, don’t avoid them like the plague if they’re full of Aiptasia anemones and various unwanted algae. Instead, use them as an educational opportunity. Teach your kids about the fish, corals, marine mammals, and all of the other life that you don’t have at home.
