With MACNA just days away, you might be getting the itch to go overboard and buy tons of corals. The only problem is you are traveling in from another state, probably via airplane. If that’s the case, you still have options when buying. For one, you could buy up all you want, then overnight the corals to yourself through one of the shipping companies. Sure, there’s some inherent risk, but it beats having to deal with the TSA. If you don’t mind the hassle, and want to gamble a little, try bringing bags of corals through the airport. Tell security that there are live animals in the bag, and they may just let you through. We’ve heard of success stories, but we’ve also heard of nightmares, so be careful. The other option is dry transportation. It may seem radical, but we’ve heard of people tossing a dry frag into a bag, hopping on a plane, then tossing it into the tank several hours later with no issue. Again, there are risks, but it may get your corals to your tank.
*Please note that we do no promote any of the above methods. They are each risky in their own way and could results in coral death and potential loss of money. We recommend buying all of your livestock from an aquarium store near your home if possible.
