Tip of the Day – 1/8/2014

During these grueling winter months, and with arctic vortex bearing down on hobbyists all over the US, it is very crucial to maintain your aquarium’s water temperature. We’ve seen image after image of frost literally creeping into people’s homes, along with photos of snow and ice covering pretty much everything…even freezing moving water in its place. During these situations, simple water heaters probably won’t cut it. While they will certainly help, space heaters and roaring fires are a must to keep the living space and the aquarium at an appropriate temperature. Thankfully, aquarium livestock has a greater tolerance for cooler temperatures than warmer, but it’s not that much better. So, do what you can to stay warm and keep the fish tank going.
