You may live in an area that is close to tropical waters (think Florida, Texas Coast, etc.) but that doesn’t mean you can release tropical fish into the waters nearby. Many hobbyists call it quits after a year or less, and while most give their remaining livestock to friends or post it for sale, some just go out and dump what’s rest into the closest waterway. Chances are, your fish will likely die, as it is nowhere near equipped enough for survival in. The non-native fish can become aggressive, reproduce rapidly, and call all sorts of problems. For this reason, do not release livestock back into the wild.
