Any coral keeping aquarist worth his weight in salt does a little (or a lot) fragging from time to time. It’s quick and easy to do, especially if you have all the right tools, and CoralVue looks to be helping that aspect along with the introduction of their new Deluxe Propagation Tool Kit and a fancy looking set of Black Oxide bone cutters. The coral cutting kit holds all of the usual suspects, including a set of 7″ heavy duty coral cutters, a 4 1/2″ soft coral cutter, a pair of 5 1/2″ tissue scissors, and several others all neatly packed into a black zipper case.
The other frag friendly item from CoralVue, which is separate from the kit, is the new stainless steel bone cutters that are coated in black oxide…giving them a sleek and stealthy look while providing for some serious rust protection. Simply called the CoralVue Stony Coral Cutters, they are ideal for cutting SPS corals, and their slip-resistant handles let you focus in on all of those tiny nooks and crannies of a coral colony without breaking off a huge chunk by accident. A high quality coiled spring helps the cutters open back up on their own, but when not in use, a handle catch keeps the cutters closed for safe keeping.
