We love repurposing regular household items for aquarium use, and one of the most common ones we see getting this treatment is a fishing scale. Normally used to weigh your big catch, these scales (both digital and analog) can be an indispensible tool for weighing live rock and buckets of live sand. Thanks to the scale’s hook, live rock can be weighed as individual pieces, assuming there’s a hole or something in which to insert the hook, and the handle of a bucket fits on there nicely. While it may see limited use at the home of a hobbyist, this tool can be very useful at a fish store or wherever live rock and sand are sold.
