Aquariums come in all shapes and sizes, but by no means are they all created equally. While rectangular shaped tanks are the most common, bowfront aquariums are also prevalent, as are other rounded pane tanks (semi-circle, double bowfront, circular, and so on). But there’s one thing that separates the straight edged aquariums from their more curry counterparts, and that’s long term reliability. Over time, curved glass aquariums tend to develop leaks more often than rectangular setups. This probably has a lot to with the unique stresses that a curved tank places on the seams, but the issues could be a little more complex than that. Regardless, it’s a possibility that you should be weary of when buying a new (or used) aquarium.
