Kalkwasser dosing can lead to huge disasters in the aquarium if it is improperly performed. An accidental overdosing kalk, for whatever reason, can cause your alkalinity to skyrocket and cause a precipitous snowstorm. These sorts of accidents can kill all of the livestock in your tank if not taken care of immediately and thoroughly. Follow dosing instructions carefully and if you run into any issues, perform a water change and try to find a way to remove the precipitated calcium carbonate.
