When dosing certain additives, it might be a good idea to turn off your protein skimmer. The skimmer will collect a variety of different chemicals that we add to our tank, including calcium additives. This holds especially true if the skimmer is running wet. There’s nothing wrong with letting your skimmer remove some of the additives, but why waste the money on them if they are just going to get skimmed off?
