Sometimes clownfish will try to take up residence in soft corals, fleshy stony corals, and even clams. Sometimes the corals and clams don’t mind the extra attention, but others may respond negatively. The coral may shrivel up and the clam may remain closed, and the clownfish may even show sting marks. To terminate the coral/clownfish relationship, you can try moving (or removing) the coral or introducing an anemone. The clownfish may not take notice of a new anemone right away, but over time it might and may take up residence there instead.
