There has been an increasing popular method of creating uniquely patterned and colored corals, in which two corals of the same species are fragged and glued onto the same frag plug or rock. As the two corals grow closer together, they form what appears to be a crazy looking coral with multiple colors. Some incorrectly call the corals “grafted”, but what is really happening is intertwining of the corals as they grow. Unfortunately in most cases, one of the colors will eventually be overgrown at some point, effectively removing any unique coloration from the coral. It may take a while for the corals to overgrow and return to a normal looking state, but it will most likely take place at some point.
