A lot of the invertebrates we buy for our warm water aquariums are not in fact from warm water areas. Take Mexican Turbo Snails for instance. They come from the cooler waters of the Gulf of California and will not last too long in aquariums where temperatures frequently hit 80 degrees. They will live for several months in the tank, but will randomly die or easily fall victim to hermit crabs.
