Some sharks give birth to live offspring while others lay eggs. Most sharks are of the live bearing kind, but many lay leathery eggs on or near the seafloor. Adventurous hobbyists can even purchase eggs and place them in their aquarium to hatch. Sometimes the eggs will hatch a tiny shark, and other times the shark will continue to develop in the egg but never hatches.
