This week’s AquaNerd POTW is of a beautiful Gold Tridacna maxima clam seen in the wild. The clam is seen here at low tide in Kwajalein, where a friend of mine has recently relocated. The clams, which are highly prized in the aquarium industry, are actually consumed by native inhabitants of many Pacific island countries on a regular basis. For more pictures of Tridacnids at low tide, please read our article Tridacna Clams Seen in the Wild. It’s really amazing what you can find in tidepools when the water has receded.
