Tip of the Day 11/9/10

Attention potential future pet owners…all animals, especially aquarium livestock, require a great deal of care and attention. They require the proper environment in which to thrive, the right balance of nutrients from quality food, and plenty of hands on maintenance that most people are just unable to give. If you are purchasing a pet for a child, please reconsider. Yes, it can be a great learning experience for the kids to own a pet. You can teach them all about responsibility, caring for something other than themselves, and learning new skills. But oftentimes the animals go neglected as interest in the animals is quickly shifted onto sports, school, or some other form of entertainment. This sort of waxing and waning interest might be alright for most cats and dogs, but please don’t do this with aquatic animals.
