New Foundland Deep Sea Octopus

National Geographic recently listed what they considered the ten ugliest weirdest animals of 2010, and four of those ten are aquatic. An unidentified purple octopus, a wood-eating freshwater catfish, a new species of handfish, and the recently popularized flamboyant squid worm all made Nat Geo’s list, along with some landlocked animals like the “ninja slug” and the “Yoda bat”. Each of these interesting animals have their own backstory, so if you’re interested, head on over to National Geographic’s website and read all about them.
