Fish eat different things at different stages of their lives, depending on the species of course. As a juvenile, a fish may be more omnivorous, eating whatever is available at the time. However, as the fish gets older, it may become more specific in its diet. We as hobbyists must recognize this and be able to provide this varying diet. Research is key, but so is simply monitoring the fish’s health. Always offer up a variety of meaty and plant/algae based foods, and take note of which elicits a stronger feeding response.
