Picture of the Week – 2/28 – 3/6

Pictured this week is a gorgeous Scolymia coral seen at the DFW Nextwave and Coral Farmers Market event. These corals are essentially one giant polyp, typically with one mouth surrounded by flesh and hidden tentacles. This particular specimen, which was quite pricey, did not get sold at the event to my knowledge. At the end of the event, the coral was still sitting in the vendor’s display aquarium, despite drawing a ton of interest all day long.
