Be very wary of corals with fancy names and a high price tag unless you know without a doubt the coral is rare. I’ve seen common, everyday corals get named and sold for significantly more than they are worth. For example, I have seen the run-of-the-mill button polyp that is a mix of green and brown with the name Medusa polyp. The coral is very cheap, very common, and grows quickly. That’s why I was so surprised to see a 2-3 polyp frag for sale at such a high price. If you ever come across a coral you are suspicious of, show a picture to your favorite online reef club and see how they react.
